Yes that would be a good approach, to use Windows Defender and the Malwarebytes as a free on-demand scanner. 1 iAntivirus has not found anything in the 6 months I have had it and am wondering now if it is even good. So, Emanuel, what would you suggest I do, leave my PC's protection as is? Sorry for asking, but I do not understand your reply, especially when you refer to a fancy software. Thank you in advance, any suggestion is much appreciated.Īltough Windows Defender is generally enough, you shouldnt be fooled into an false sense of security just because you use some fancy software, you should also use layers, like an onion, to protect your computer. ![]() I appreciate your advise, before I make the decision to rely on Defender alone, and do a weekly scan with the Malwarebytes free version as a second opinion. I still do not fully know whether Defender by itself is good enough as a protection layer for my PC. Would you support my plan, or should I keep at least the Malwarebytes paid version as an active anti-malware? The best free combination I've found is using Windows defender for virus protection, which is a no brainer anyhow since there are VERY few actual 'viruses' in the wild anymore, and Malwarebytes or. Besides, I could you use Malwarebytes free scanner, and just let Windows Defender do all the work. I read many here confirm Windows Defender as being a good antivirus, and that would let me save on the Emsisoftware yearly subscription. When you learn to accept that the fault is with your own internet connection rather than calling your opponents cheats or - who is allowing to play chess for free, since you have not paid for membership - "unfair", you will have far more credibility than you have thus far demonstrated in this thread.I decided not to open a new thread regarding my protection on my PC, and some advice from you people I currently have a paid version of Emsisoft Anti-Malware (my anti-virus) and a paid version of Malwarebytes, which both cost money every year. They are not the "losers" here - by your behaviour you are demonstrating that not only did you lose those games, you are losing your own peace of mind, not to mention dignity. I dont seem to be able to find much available software for this need, and those that are available seem to have a rather hefty price tag on them. IF you did not do that deliberately, then it almost certainly YOUR internet connection and NOTHING to do with anything your opponents are or are not doing. I have found lots of info on the mac forums about not running an AV at all, but as I will be doing my banking etc on it I would rather have something light on it as a kind of insurance policy. That means that YOU dropped out of the tournament. Connect with vendor experts from Symantec, WebRoot, Avast and more. Putting aside questions of whether antivirus software is needed or not, iAntiVirus seems new on the scene and claims a low memory footprint. You did not lose (not "loose") a single game in that tournament - but you also said that you "won 3 games in a row". Unfortunately, it's pretty clear that you are not. Welcome to BleepingComputer, a free community where people like yourself come together to discuss and learn how to use their computers. I agree completely, if by "people" you are referring to yourself. So don't expect to be able to "help" you with either of things in the forseeable future. In neither case are there any "policies" involved, nor are they "unfair". It's much more likely to be either some other virus that you've picked up that is affecting all of your PC operations, or connectivity problems that look like you're hanging, when what's really happening is you're waiting on the server connection. Other people can't make your screen lock, and especially can't make it lock when you're in a supposedly winning position on this web site. It's a reasonable policy - if the players have gone, you can't force them to play the remaining games, and if you don't have enough to proceed with the remaining rounds, then there's not much point, really, is there? Sounsd like what happened to the tournament is that the number of participants dropped below the minimum threshhold so the whole tournament was cancelled: it happens because people drop out of a tournament as soon as they lose more games than they expect and can't be bothered playing out the remaining games.
